Food Forest Maintenance Workshop at Eden Hall

Sunday, April 2, 2017
10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Eden Hall Lodge

Learn proper techniques for maintaining a home orchard or perennial food garden: pruning, weeding, mulching and planting. The food forest of Eden Hall is home to several varieties of fruit trees including plums, peaches, pears, nectarine and apple trees as well as fruiting shrubs like elderberry, blueberry and raspberries. Learn how to manage “suckers” or root sprouts that emerge from the base of trees as well as pruning techniques to make fruit trees healthier and more productive. Weeding, mulching and planting all go hand in hand to creating a low maintenance system where useful plants out compete weedy, undesirable plants. Learn how to reduce weeds while encouraging plants that aid and support the health of your fruit trees and shrubs.
